Diwali is a festival of lights, happiness and most importantly for mouth-melted sweets. Normally we make lots of dishes on Diwali like poha chivda, besan ladoo, chole bhature, mawa barfi, coconut ladoo, but this Diwali try something new, make oats and dry fruits ladoo, which gives you the Diwali feel and keeps you warm too.

Today I am going to tell you my simple and easy recipe which is easy to make and very delicious to eat. Along with some tips and tricks.

When we hear the name of oats, these diet items come to our mind. We make many different dishes from oats which we eat in our diet like oats upma, oats chilla, oats halwa and many more. But oats and dry fruit ladoo is one such dish which keeps you healthy and satisfied too. 

This dish made with just a few minimal ingredients is the best choice for Diwali.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Main ingredients 

  • 1 cup rolled or instant oats
  • 1/2 cup mixed dry fruit( almond, cashews, pistachios, walnut)
  • 10-12 seedless 
  • 1/4 cup Desiccated coconut 
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tbsp Cardamom powder

Optional for flover

  • 1 tbsp Jeggery powder or honey
  • 1 tbsp chia or flex seeds 

Step-by-Step Method:

Step 1: Dry Roast the Oat:

  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat.
  • Then add the rolled oats and roast it for 3-4 minutes, keep stirring continuously till it turns golden.
  • Let them cool and grind them in a mixer. This laddu can be made with a soft or nutty flavor.

Step 2: Roast the Dry Fruits:

  • Heat ghee in the same pan.
  • Then toss in chopped dry fruits(almond, cashews, walnut, pistachios).
  • Roast until the delicious sleighs are golden. Do not over roast.
  • remove and keep it aside to cool.

Step 3: Prepare the Dates Mixture:

  • Then chop the dates and blend them into a sticky paste.
  • Then, add ghee to a pan and add the date paste.
  • Cook it for 2-3 minutes, until it softens and the paste
  • starts leaving the pan.

Step 4: Combine Everything:

  • You can add paste of dates to roasted powder or dry fruits.
  • Or mix until you get a stick dough like texture when combined.
  • Then add cardamom powder and desiccated coconut for extra flower.
  • If the agar mixture feels dry then maybe add 1 tbsp ghee or honey.

Step 5: Shape the Laddoos:

  • When the mixture is slightly warm, lay one portion of it or make a round ladle of it.
  • Then roll the dessicated coconut for a beautiful festive look.

Storage Tips:

  • You can store it in airtight container for 2 days in room temperature. 
  • If you want keep it longer then keep it in to refrigerator for up to 2 week.
  • Always use clean and dry spoon to mainten the refreshment.

1. Balance the sweetness:If your dates is sweet then skip adding honey.

2. Don’t over-grind oats: keep them slightly thick for fastival touch.

3. Use good-quality ghee: for the best enhance and flover homed ghee is the best choice. 

4. Add variety: Add China seeds, flex seeds and pumpkin seeds for super twist.

5. Moisture check: If the mixture is too dry then add 2 tbsp of ghee to maintain moisture. 

6. Binding issue; add 1-2 dates or a syrup of Jeggery to help blending easy.

7. Toast coconut lightly: Before rolling ladoos toasted the lightly for best aroma.
